Marckdaline St. Fort

Miss Creole 2007

Marckdaline “Marcky” St. Fort is a psychiatric social worker, dancer, actress, writer, and hair stylist. When asked to choose an area she prefers most, she describes herself as, “One who enjoys expression of art through creative writing and dance.” Her passion lies in the ability to use her creative mind to free & express herself in an intangible manner which words have no way to depict.

At the age of 5 years old, dancing became a weekend ritual with her father whenever he listened to Haitian music. Dancing, later, turned into something that was required of Marcky when her parents joined a Haitian organization from her community called “Leve, Kanpe pou Leogane (LKL), which held “theatre” (Haitian plays) frequently. Before leaving high school, for her church, she also engaged in praise dancing and annual theater events for Fete des Meres. She always knew that she was a talented dancer but it was not until college when she realized her strong passion for cultural dance. While in college, Ms. St. Fort joined the Haitian Cultural Club Dance Troupe of Tallahassee, FL. In the spring of 2000, she became the dance coordinator for one year, but continued dancing until spring 2005.

Marckdaline St. Fort has displayed her dancing abilities at various venues and is now exploring other creative sides in writing, knitting, sewing, and acting. Presently, she is working towards finding ways to incorporate her design ideas with her dancing talent. She is also working with Sa Nou Vle Films, in Atlanta, GA.

Ms. St. Fort received a BSW degree in Social Work from Florida State University, and an MSW in Social Work from Barry University.
